The Problem: Isolated Blockchains
Blockchains traditionally operate in isolation. Ethereum apps live on Ethereum, Solana apps on Solana, and assets usually cannot move or interact without special tooling.
The Omnichain Solution
Omnichain describes a system where apps can operate across many chains, assets can move natively, and users don't need to understand or manage multiple networks.
Unlike simple bridges (which only move tokens), omnichain systems allow messages and actions to be sent across chains. This means a smart contract on one chain can trigger logic on another.
Why This Matters
- Liquidity is no longer fragmented
- Apps can scale beyond one chain
- Users experience crypto as one connected system
Key points to remember:
- Omnichain ≠ bridge
- Messaging is as important as asset movement
- Reduces fragmentation across chains
